Radioactive Mavericks

Hey Everyone, This is a re-post of the old NerfUniversal. Just as an update the blasters are still working great and the customer is still very pleased with my work. in fact I am working on more blasters from them for Christmas!!! so be on the look out for more commission goodness!!!

Hey guys it Than. I finally completed  my Radioactive Maverick mod and I am VERY pleased with it and I now my commissioner will like it as well. These are the mods I did to it:

- AR and post removal
- 5 Penny Mod
- Full Barrel Drop
- Semi-gloss black paint job with green enamel paint details
- 4 Green LED's
- Swapped black maverick with sonic series Maverick.

This mod was pretty easy to do but required a lot of time and hard work. I first had to sand down the standard maverick which took a while, and then paint it. After I painted it it was as simple as switching out the parts and making 2 blasters. Which produced something like this:

After that I did some detailing with some green enamel paint to ease the green in with the rest of the blaster.

Next was the LED's

The LED job was pretty standard. 4 LED's that ran on about 20mA each all run off a 9V battery. They have a 30 degree viewing angle which makes it nice to light up a blaster. I placed them in differently that I used to. I usually tried to dremel out a half circle on either sides of the shell, but that never turned out the way I wanted, and there was usually gaps which I had to go over with hot glue making the job look less than professional. This time I decided to put all the holes on one side of the shell. Sure it's a little brighter on one side of the blaster than the other, but it's not by much and the holes are much cleaner. I put in hot glue on the inside of the blaster but you can't even see it. It looks much better and you can barely tell there are LED's in the blaster at first glance.

Overall I am very pleased with my work and now that I know i can produce them I think i'm going to be making many of these. At least til I run out of green LED's. I can make them for $30 per blaster. Shipping will be extra and if you want a pair I may be able to make a discount for that. Comment if you have any questions or are interested in have me make you one of these.

LATHE!!

I got to use my schools lathe today!
So I made this bushing out of nylon!
Not bad for my first try.
It has a perfect fit in 1 1/4" PVC, and the barrel fit is 100%

Snapbow MK V WIP

This is my WIP Snapbow, I need to make so much stuff for it. I think Lathed parts shall look good on this. Anyway there are some pictures attached, enjoy!
It has a fully compressed K26. A very basic plunger head right now, which sucks. More lathed parts! And it has a vent.

Things I need to do:
Attach the metal bracket for the trigger.
Make and attach a handle.done
Lathe a bushing.
Lathe a spring rest.
Lathe a plunger head set up.
Attach a foregrip.
Attach a stock.

LE FUN!

A Barricade

This is a Drop Turret Barricade that failed, so I reverted it back to its original form , tuned up the internals and modded it. Mods done are: Physical Lock Removal, electrical lock removal, thermosistor removed, Jam door removed, 9V connector soldered in, Springs inside were tightened ( rotation was being wierd) and I dremeled out the battery compartment.

Also, I added Etape on the handle, so the ranges are now OVER 9000!!!2!!

BBV's Alpha Trooper

Hey guys, here is a post about one of my Alpha Troopers.

Mods that I have done consist of:
AR removal, lock removal, plunger padding , taping over the air release hole, jam door lock sanded, clip lock mod and additional powerstock ( not pictured)

This was my primary for WSNO and it served me well, ranges 40-50ft, the latter being with the powerstock.

I opened up the back of the plunger cover to allow a spring to slide in, and wrapped the heck out of it with Etape so that 1 1/4" PVC slides on. On the stock I put a cut up deploy magwell and foam from a buzz bee missile.
This allows me to hold an extra clip/drum.

Thanks for reading :)

Modding Q's and A's

So in my short time of modding Nerf's I've discovered that a lot of people have the wrong idea for what happens when you do something to a certain thing.

Here are some Q and A's to solve some of these problems

Q: If I single my recon will the range decrease?

A: No , all singling a recon does is taking out the dart tooth and cutting off the magwell. - if anything it will increase your range by pushing the dart in further.

Q: If I single my Longshot , can it still take clips?

A: No- when you single a Longshot you remove the ability to load clips.

Q: Do I need to brass or CPVC my blasters to fire stefans?

A: No. To fire stefans all you need is to remove the Air Restrictor and ppDart Tooth. If you want good ranges then yes you should brass or rebarrel them.

Q: Can I brass breech a Reverse Plunger blaster or an Elite Blaster?

A: No. Reverse Plungers simply don't have the volume to fire through all that deadspace, and Retaliator's/Rampages don't have enough volume for a lengthy barrel.

Q: Will a K26 fit in a Quadshot?

A: No a K26 has a too small of an ID to fit over the plunger rod.

Q: Where can I buy a K26?

A: The K26 spring can only be found at McMaster.com.

Q: Will my hardware store sell PETG?

A: No. Try a pet store or iModify's modding store.

Q: Should I use a tight fitting barrel or a loose fitting barrel for my springers?

A: A tight fitting barrel. In springers the energy is released over a certain amount of milliseconds. Therefore you need a tight barrel so that you don't loose any of that energy around the dart.
In air guns, you need a loose fitting barrel as all the energy is released at once - you want your dart to travel with the air.

Q: Is Drac the best modder?

A: No. Not at all. And if you think that, then you should probably stop modding.

Hope you guys enjoyed this little guide.
If you have any other questions post them in the comments and I'll add an answer!
